On November 27 and 28 local time, Comorian President Azali Assoumani, together with all cabinet members, attended the commencement and signing ceremonies of two projects undertaken by China Geo-Engineering Corporation Madagascar Branch, namely the water supply in four districts of Anjouan Island under the United Nations Green Fund and a road project on Anjouan Island under Saudi Arabia Fund.
The water supply project of Districts 7, 9, 10 and 12 on the Anjouan Island is a livelihood project aimed at solving the problem of water consumption for nearly 11,000 residents in 12 villages of Anjouan Island. It is a project under the Green Fund of the United Nations Development Programme, and the first UN-funded aid project undertaken by China Geo-Engineering Corporation. The smooth progress of this project will lay a solid foundation for the corporation to carry out follow-up UN aid projects in the future.
The Mutsamudu-Sima road project on Anjouan Island is a thoroughfare connecting the capital of the island to Sima, the third largest city in Comoros. Measuring 27 kilometers in length, it is the most important section of the road circling the island.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, President Azali Assoumani spoke highly of the contribution made by China Geo-Engineering Corporation to Comorian infrastructure construction in recent years. Representative from China Geo-Engineering Corporation expressed that the company will carefully organize the construction, strengthen its social responsibility, and ensure high quality construction of the projects, so as to contribute to the friendship between the two countries.
