Yu Honghui, president of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP) held talks with Laurent Bili, French ambassador to China, at the French Embassy in China on May 13. The two sides discussed issues on deepening technological cooperation between CECEP and relevant French enterprises and institutions for achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.

Yu said that as a Chinese centrally administered enterprise focusing on energy conservation and environmental protection, CECEP’s development strategy closely conforms to the concepts of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and that the company is committed to making great contributions to realizing China’s goals of “peaking its carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.” He also expressed that CECEP hopes to strengthen innovation cooperation in fields concerning green development, such as zero-carbon emission demonstration, new energy, river harnessing, ecological restoration, and green finance.

Bili spoke highly of CECEP’s achievements in energy conservation and environmental protection, adding that addressing climate change needs concerted efforts around the world, especially large enterprises. He said that France will vigorously support CECEP in conducting mutually complementary and win-win innovation cooperation with relevant French enterprises and institutions, push forward the popularization of new technologies in energy conservation and emission reduction and facilitate the implementation of relevant cooperation projects.
