On the afternoon of August 18 local time, journalists of Rwanda TV, a subsidiary of Rwanda Broadcasting Agent, went to Musanze to report on the extension of the Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre (IPRC Musanze), a China-aid project undertaken by China Qiyuan Engineering Corporation under CECEP. They interviewed the school’s principal and chairman of Musanze district council Emile Abayisenga, the graduates, local workers and villagers living nearby the school. The reports documented the stories from the perspectives of local people and introduced the significant social influence and economic benefits brought by the project to Musanze and to the whole Rwanda.
Since groundbreaking, the project has been closely followed and covered by mainstream media of China and African countries. On May 30, 2019, the Chinese and African mainstream media including Xinhua News Agency, the Global Times, the state-run media of Rwanda The New Times, and AllAfrica Global Media gave extensive coverage on the groundbreaking ceremony of the project and its influence. On January 15, 2020, the French channel of China Global Television Network (CGTN) had a special report on the charity activities of China Qiyuan to build houses for local poor households.

The project employs a number of local workers and provides precious opportunities of internship and training for students of the IPRC Musanze, which could greatly improve the vocational skills of local students. When completed, the expanded school will become the biggest vocational school in Rwanda, allow more young people to grow into highly skilled talents, and help Rwanda implement its national strategies of high-level vocational education.
