Constructed by China Geo-engineering Corporation, a subsidiary of the CECEP, the Sino-Gabonese Friendship Hospital covers an area of 24,000 square meters, including 7,622 square meters of floor space. The complex consists of six separate projects, namely outpatient building, medical technology building, ward building, comprehensive building, power distribution facility for the auxiliary building and an outdoor project. With a two-story reinforced concrete frame structure, the main buildings can withstand an earthquake of magnitude 8. Connected by corridors, they resemble a Chinese-style courtyard.
The hospital has clinical departments such as internal medicine, external medicine, emergency department, gynecology, pediatrics and otolaryngology, as well as medical technology departments such as imaging department, laboratory medicine, B-mode ultrasound scanning, electroencephalogram and computed tomography scanning. These departments use a group of medical equipment imported from China, including computed tomography scanner, electroencephalograph and automatic biochemical analyzer. Roads and facilities for power supply, water supply and drainage, fire fighting and greening were also built for the hospital. An anti-malaria center in the hospital provides effective drugs and treatment for patients, greatly improving the medical conditions in local communities. All medical equipment from China has been handed over to the hospital and put into operation. So far, the hospital has received more than 2,000 patients.
