According to Song Xin, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), from the beginning of this year to May 5, CECEP had totally treated 13,800 tons of medical waste, including 3,080.69 tons of coronavirus-related waste. For now and in the years to come, the main tasks of CECEP are to support the state and local governments in plugging the loopholes in infrastructure and public services, analyze the changing needs of users in the post-epidemic era, take active action to seek breakthroughs in fields like hazardous and medical waste, garbage, and sewage treatment, and lead the healthy, innovation-driven development of the industry through providing high-quality, professional services.
