When interviewed by Xinhua News Agency, Song Xin, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), noted that garbage classification is a systematic project. He suggested that third- and four-tier cities and the countryside adopt the new model of “county-level solid waste coordination and joint treatment” that features “decentralized collection and centralized treatment.” So far, CECEP has implemented this model in Baoding of Hebei Province as well as some areas in southern Sichuan Province. Furthermore, it has innovated the business mode to push forward the “two parks + one chain” solid waste integrated solution. Through coordinating urban and rural areas, various kinds of solid waste can be recycled and reused within the “two parks + one chain” system, thus achieving zero waste discharge.
