From October 14 to 18, to mark the sixth National Poverty Alleviation Day, Chen Shuguang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of CECEP, led a team on a tour of Songxian in Henan Province and Fuchuan in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to inspect the group’s poverty alleviation work in these two poverty-stricken counties under pairing assistance.
On October 14-15, Chen Shuguang and his entourage visited Songxian County, Henan Province, to understand the progress of various poverty alleviation projects implemented by CECEP in Shichang Village in Jiugao Town. There, they conducted field inspection on the CECEP-donated 500-meter-deep well in Shichang Village, a 630-meter-deep well and home pipeline installation project and the construction of a Party and mass service center in Shibangou Village, as well as fructus forsythia and salvia miltiorrhiza industrial bases and the Stone Tribe tourism development project. They also visited three poor households.
When holding talks with leaders of Songxian County, Chen noted that the Party Committee of CECEP attaches great importance to the work of poverty alleviation and remains resolutely committed to fulfilling its social responsibility as a central SOE. Next, CECEP will vigorously promote all-round cooperation with Songxian County and make high-quality efforts to support and help Songxian in winning the battle against poverty, he added. Chen also instructed the two temporary county officials newly stationed by the group to perform well in politics, passion, dedication, deeds and workstyle and maintain CECEP’s good image with practical action and achievements. The leaders of Songxian County recognized the contribution made by CECEP to lifting Songxian out of poverty, as well as the performance of duties by CECEP-stationed officials during all previous terms. They welcomed the two new officials and expressed hopes that CECEP will continue to support and help Songxian in achieving poverty eradication and high-quality development as soon as possible.
From October 16 to 18, after the inspection tour of Songxian County, Chen Shuguang and his entourage immediately traveled to Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County in Guangxi. In Shantian Village of Gucheng Town, Chen joined local leaders to lay the foundation for the second poverty alleviation workshop donated by CECEP. In Xinshi Village of Liujia Township, where CECEP has stationed the first-secretary in the village, Chen inspected the safe drinking water project, the living environment renovation project and the poverty alleviation workshop donated by the group, and visited two poverty-stricken households. At the CECEP-funded Chaodong Town Health Center, Chen alongside two doctors in the medical field conducted discussions with local leaders on exploring approaches to improve medical diagnosis at grassroots levels so as to ensure the health and well-being of farmers through high-tech means.
Since 2013, CECEP has invested more than 13 million yuan in assisting Fuchuan in poverty alleviation through livelihood improvement (building roads and drinking water projects), industrial development (creating job opportunities), education (donating funds to education) and health care (improving medical facilities). Local leaders and residents alike expressed heartfelt appreciation to CECEP for the generous support and help it has rendered to Fuchuan over the years.
