Since the beginning of 2018, CECEP has made active efforts to help Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region shake off poverty, thanks to which local residents have enjoyed tangible benefits in terms of livelihood, income and education. With an investment of 1.1 million yuan, CECEP constructed a drinking water project, bringing clean and clear spring water to 1,122 villagers. Its donation of 106 solar road lamps worth of 500,000 yuan has benefited 3,300 villagers. It renovated buildings of an abandoned primary school in Xinshi Village to ensure a better learning environment for the pupils. It established poverty-relief workshops, offered skills training and provided jobs for nearly 30 local female villagers, enabling them to earn an average monthly income of up to 2,200 yuan each without leaving their home.

CECEP has established poverty-relief workshops and offered skills training for local female villagers.

The “Pursuing Dreams in the Capital” summer camp sponsored by CECEP provided a chance for excellent students from impoverished households in Fuchuan County to experience Beijing.

Under the “Spring Seedling Support” program, 88 sets of new school uniforms donated by CECEP’s female employees were presented to students of Xinshi Primary School, while 10 impoverished students were paired with a “one-on-one” aid.

CECEP dispatched young, capable staff to Fuchuan County to promote the poverty relief work. Li Hongchang was appointed temporary deputy governor of the county. Upon assuming the post, he began pondering how to make local oranges available in a broader market. He motivated employees at the headquarters of CECEP to buy more than 10,000 kilograms of oranges and leverage CECEP’s e-commerce app to market the oranges, which generated a total sales volume of over 550,000 yuan. In Changyuanchong Village, a family surnamed Lin has two school-age children, whose mother is mentally impaired. Due to financial shortage, the family could not afford installation of water, electricity, windows and floors after renovation of their dilapidated houses. To help the family, and considering the fact that the relief budget of that year had already run out, Li Hongchang and his colleague Du Jinbo submitted a report to the headquarters applying for including related expenditures to the budget of the coming year. Upon the approval from the headquarters, they immediately make arrangement for the work, and just within two days, water, electricity and windows were installed and floors were paved, thus effectively ensuring every household benefits from the poverty alleviation efforts.
