From May 27 to 30, Yu Honghui, CEO and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of CECEP, headed a team into Songxian County, Henan Province, and Fuchuan County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to inspect CECEP’s targeted poverty alleviation work. In the two impoverished counties, Yu inspected CECEP-aided livelihood projects and industrial poverty alleviation projects, visited poverty-stricken households, and held talks with local leaders at county, township and village levels to understand the progress of poverty reduction in the two countries and discuss and explore a long-term mechanism and plans for sustained fight against poverty.
In Songxian County, Yu and his team first arrived in Shichang Village of Jiugao Town before they inspected a CECEP-funded 630-meter water well in Shibangou Village and a 380-meter water well in Lizhuang Village, as well as a household pipeline installation project, a poverty-alleviation resettlement community and a residents’ leisure square. Later, Yu joined local officials and villagers to participate in the “Hand in Hand” poverty relief activity organized by China Television Station (CCTV), inspected CECEP-aided poverty relief projects including a salvia miltiorrhiza planting base, a saponin planting base and a pig farm. Before leaving, they visited two local impoverished households to understand their living and farming situation and encourage them to boost confidence in shaking off poverty and making a fortune.
On May 30, Yu and his entourage arrived in Xinshi Village of Liujia Township, Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County, Guangxi, where they inspected the CECEP-aided safe drinking water project, human habitat improvement project and employment-based poverty alleviation base. After that, Yu came to the village’s Central Primary School and unveiled the school’s new soccer field funded by CECEP.
Yu said CECEP will do its best to fulfill the responsibility of poverty relief, explore solutions to poverty including in non-impoverished villages, and make sure works in all aspects proceed well after victory in the battle against poverty. Based on existing cooperation, he added, efforts will be made to further broaden thought, expand cooperation, innovate mode of cooperation and constantly improve capacity for industrial self-reliance, so as to help the counties achieve sustainable long-run economic growth and promote rural vitalization.
