On December 13-14, the 12th Solid Waste Strategy Forum, sponsored by E20 Environment Platform, was held in Beijing. China National Environmental Protection Corporation (CNEPC) was named among the 2018 Top 10 Influential Solid Waste Treatment Enterprises in China, which marked the ninth consecutive year for the company to earn the prestigious honor.
CNEPC, the only central SOE specializing in solid waste treatment, has long been committed to becoming an internationally-advanced environmental enterprise that provides best solutions for aboveground ecological environment management. Implementing a two-pronged strategy that combines horizontal expansion of the business chain and vertical exploration of the value chain, the company strives to build an industrial group with full-industrial chain, complete product chain and full coverage of solid waste treatment.
In terms of horizontal business expansion, CNEPC devised a business model as a solution provider for aboveground ecological environment management, focusing on four business segments: comprehensive treatment of urban waste, disposal of hazardous waste, agricultural ecological remediation and remediation of contaminated sites. Currently, its business scope covers treatment of domestic garbage, hazardous waste, kitchen waste, dead livestock, forestry and agricultural residues, sludge, soil remediation, construction waste, landfill stock and industrial solid waste.
In terms of vertical exploration of value, CNEPC provides integrated services involving consulting, design, investment, construction and operation. In recent years, the company has focused on improving its core capabilities including planning and design, technological research and development, equipment integration, engineering construction, and operation and maintenance, in an attempt to enhance its competitive edge.
Seizing the opportunity brought by the development of the industry, CNEPC redoubled its efforts in market development and has achieved an annual increase of 10,000 tons for three years running. In 2018, despite multiple challenges from policy stimulus, strict regulation and control and fierce market competition, CNEPC still maintained stable and healthy growth and achieved remarkable accomplishments, thanks to its strong capital base, advanced technologies and refined management. At present, it is capable of treating 80,000 tons of solid waste per day.
As a centrally-administered SOE, CNEPC also shoulders the mission of serving key national strategies, and has taken an active part in the Great Protection of the Yangtze River, the environmental management of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the construction of Xiongan New Area and the development of ecologically-friendly cities in Hainan Province.
