At 9:05 a.m. Beijing time on January 7, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Dingri County in Xigaze, Xizang. In response, a CQEC subsidiary swiftly mobilized and is working closely with local authorities on post-quake relief operations.
The party committee of the company recently formed an elite team of party members, including seasoned relief experts Cheng Hongshuang, Wang Fuyong and Li Yongjie. This team has been dispatched to Ngamring County in Xigaze to carry out emergency assessments. Despite the severe cold and the ongoing risk of aftershocks, the team conducted comprehensive on-site surveys, “examining” each household to evaluate structural damage and issuing detailed diagnostic reports. These assessments have been meticulously documented to create an inventory of damaged structures, which will serve as a critical foundation for calculating losses, planning repairs and facilitating the resettlement of affected residents. By January 15, the team had inspected 73 public buildings, covering a combined area of 332,100 square meters.
In parallel, the company has coordinated with project staff across the Xizang region to manage the logistics of material and personnel transport for the affected areas. The company also launched a fundraising campaign, “Hearts United, Together in Aid of Xigaze”, encouraging all employees to contribute to the relief efforts. With support coming from all directions, CQEC remains committed to monitoring the reconstruction process and will continue to provide expert technical support and assistance as the recovery progresses.
