On October 20, the Product Category Rules (PCR) for Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) of Lubricating Products (Version 1.0.0), co-drafted by CECEP Research Center as the primary contributor and technical support unit, and led by Sinopec Lubricant Co., Ltd., was officially released under the International EPD System. As the world’s first PCR for lubricating products, this release fills an international gap in standardization for this product category.

The Product Category Rules (PCR) for Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) of Lubricating Products (Version 1.0.0) covers the methods for evaluating and disclosing the environmental performance of lubricating oils, greases, fluids and additives throughout their full life cycle. Based on ISO 14025:2006, ISO 14040:2006, ISO 14044:2006, and related product standards, it provides a unified and scientific framework for product life cycle assessment and declaration, supporting the green and low-carbon development of the global lubricant industry. The release marks China’s pioneering achievement in establishing international standards within the petrochemical lubricant sector.
