Recently, the first hospital outpatient facility in China built using a Modular Integrated Construction (MIC) system, designed by the Shenzhen Machinery Institute Architectural Design under CQEC, was officially completed and put into operation at the original site of Shenzhen Longhua District Central Hospital.

The project follows a green, circular design concept emphasizing mobility and reusability. Using MIC technology, the team completed the design in just 30 days and the reconstruction in 96 days, setting a new record for the fastest construction of a permanent medical facility in China.

During construction, the design team applied full-process collaboration technologies, BIM parametric modeling, cross-disciplinary coordination platforms, and integrated MEP and interior systems. Prefabrication of pipelines and interior components was completed in the factory, enabling factory prefabrication and on-site rapid assembly, which significantly reduced on-site workload. The facility was built to the highest medical building standards, featuring top-level fire resistance and waterproofing, and designed to withstand earthquakes of intensity 7, ensuring safe and reliable long-term operation.

The completion of this project has greatly enhanced Longhua District’s medical infrastructure and service capacity, offering a valuable model for hospital renovation and rapid expansion projects across the country.
