On April 21, the People’s Bank of China, the National Development and Reform Commission and the China Securities and Regulatory Commission jointly issued the Green Bond Endorsed Projects Catalogue (2021 Edition). Commissioned by China Institute of Finance, CECEP Consulting Co, Ltd. exclusively provided technical support for a green financial standard.
Compilation of the catalogue took three years and achieved three key breakthroughs: First, the criteria for defining green projects are more scientific and accurate; second, the bond issuance and management model is further optimized; and third, the updated version provides a stable framework and flexible space for the development of green bonds in China.
After it comes into effect on July 1, the catalogue will play a positive role in regulating China’s green bond market, guiding more funds to support green industries and green projects, and promoting the unification of basic systems in the green bond market and the alignment of Chinese and foreign green bond standards.
