Lately, Song Xin, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), gave an interview to Xinhua Financial. He noted that it is unlikely for an industrial conglomerate to enhance its core competitiveness, achieve high-quality development and grow strong and powerful without continual, effective support of technological innovation.
It is reported that CECEP has mobilized its subsidiaries in various sectors to focus on technological innovation. According to a document on further advancing technological innovation issued earlier this year, CECEP will continue to enhance its technical capacity in main business, and encourage its subsidiaries to apply for projects aiming to establish state-class or provincial-level technical research platforms such as corporate technical centers, labs and engineering research centers. In addition, CECEP designated 36 research projects with great influence on energy conservation and environmental protection as the key targets of technological innovation for the next stage.
