Recently, CECWPC’s 200MW/800MWh grid-side independent energy storage project in Sonid Right Banner, Xilin Gol League, was successfully included in the third batch of independent new-type energy storage projects approved for construction in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 2026. This marks CECWPC’s third hundred-megawatt-scale energy storage project in Inner Mongolia, further advancing its development of an emerging energy storage cluster in the region.
Located in Sonid Right Banner, Xilin Gol League, the project will feature a four-hour-duration lithium iron phosphate electrochemical energy storage power station. Once operational, it will effectively mitigate the intermittency and fluctuations of renewable power generation while enhancing the stability, flexibility and security of regional power supply.
To date, CECWPC has developed three energy storage projects in Inner Mongolia: the Luzimiao Energy Storage Power Station in Qahar Youyi Front Banner, the energy storage project in Hohhot’s Xincheng District and the Sonid Right Banner project, with a combined capacity of 650MW/2,600MWh. Together, they have established a virtuous cycle of projects in operation, under construction and in reserve, while gradually forming a coordinated development model integrating wind power, energy storage and integrated energy services. These efforts are helping Inner Mongolia establish a new paradigm for the integrated development of power generation, grids, loads and energy storage.
