Recently, as part of the Gen Z Foreign Influencers Explore Hefei event, organized by the Hefei Cyberspace Affairs Office, hosted by China Daily Information Co, and supported by Hefei Television, five foreign content creators from the United States, France, Canada and Yemen visited CECEP Guozhen’s Hudaying Water Reclamation Plant. They were immersed in the eco-friendly technology “hidden” beneath the city.
Upon arrival, the influencers were amazed to find vibrant urban green spaces aboveground, while underground lies a treatment facility capable of processing 100,000 cubic meters of wastewater daily. This invisible design completely subverted their perception of traditional sewage plants.
“The beauty of technology lies in integrating environmental solutions into everyday life,” said Bradley Johnson (Zhang Haozhe), an American teacher from the University of Science and Technology of China, giving a thumbs-up after witnessing how wastewater is purified. He praised the project’s ecological vision and technical strength.
As a key underground ecological barrier in Hefei, the Hudaying plant combines a water treatment facility with an urban green oasis in an innovative model that treats wastewater below while nurturing greenery above. It contributes to improving the ecological health of Chaohu Lake Basin and enhances Hefei’s image as a city of innovation and sustainability.
