Recently, the high-altitude ultra-high-voltage (UHV) test hall project in Xizang, for which CQEC’s Industrial Institute was responsible for the feasibility study and construction design, was officially put into operation.

Located at Yangbajing High-Altitude Test Base at an elevation of 4,300 meters, the project has a total floor area of 7,654 square meters. The UHV test hall measures 96 meters in length, 69 meters in width and 70 meters in height, making it the world’s highest-altitude UHV test facility with the largest clear height and most comprehensive testing capabilities.
The facility can conduct external insulation verification for AC 1000kV and DC ±1100kV UHV projects, insulation performance testing for power transmission and transformation equipment and fundamental research on external insulation at high altitudes. It will play a key role in supporting Xizang’s “power transmission to other regions” initiative and promoting the high-quality development of the clean energy industry.
