From June 13 to 14, Song Xin, chairman of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), led a team to Songxian County, Luoyang, Henan Province, to investigate local poverty alleviation work of the CECEP.
During the investigation tour, Song Xin inspected the CECEP-aided projects in Shichang Village of Jiugao Town, including the Village History Museum, fruit-picking orchards, the Memory Museum, and the “smart local medical service + health poverty alleviation” project. He then visited a traditional Chinese medicinal herb (Chinese honeylocust fruit) industrial park in Jiugao Town and an edible mushroom industrial park and CITIC Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. in Luoyang. Song also made a special trip to Shichang Village, Jiugao Town, to visit poor households and learn more about their production, living conditions, and poverty alleviation needs.
Song Xin stressed that CECEP will stay true to its mission of lifting poor people out of poverty and continue its targeted poverty alleviation efforts of a high standard as usual. He suggested that the company should strengthen efforts in the following aspects: First, the company should continue to actively promote the employment of the labor force in designated poverty alleviation counties and give priority to employing people in Songxian County, especially those from registered poor families, on the basis of qualifications. Second, greater efforts should be made to further enhance poverty alleviation through consumption by expanding and diversifying marketing channels to help sales of agricultural products in Songxian County. Third, the company will carry on the good practices of poverty alleviation through education, health care and industrial development to consolidate the effectiveness of poverty alleviation. Fourth, CECEP staff stationed in Songxian County should perform their duty of helping locals alleviate poverty to the utmost.
