On the afternoon of May 13, the launching ceremony of “Great Protection of the Yangtze River by New SOEs” campaign, guided by the Online Review Department of the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and the Bureau of Publicity of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), and co-sponsored by SASAC News Center and China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), was held at CECEP (Guizhou) Building Energy Co., Ltd. Representatives from 22 media organizations including People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency and Guangming Daily attended the event.
When addressing the ceremony, Chen Shuguang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of CECEP, noted that “great protection of the Yangtze River” is a significant national strategy personally designed, deployed and promoted by President Xi Jinping. In the new era, he stressed, CECEP has seen new development and new achievements across all its business segments, presenting a new look of a state-owned enterprise. Zhang Yihao, deputy director of SASAC News Center, said that through the “Great Protection of the Yangtze River by New SOEs” campaign, journalists would provide first-hand reporting of CECEP’s key projects on the banks of the Yangtze River, especially the company’s contributions in terms of sewage treatment, solid waste disposal, ecological restoration, clean energy development and energy conservation along the Yangtze River.
The Yangtze River Business Department of CECEP, alongside related subsidiaries such as CECEP Building Energy Conservation Co., Ltd., CECEP Environmental Protection Equipment Co., Ltd. and CECEP DADI Environmental Remediation Co., Ltd., delivered reports on their efforts in protecting the ecological environment along the Yangtze River. Prior to the event, authority leaders made field investigation of CECEP’s key projects including Zhongtian Future Ark’s No.1 Energy Station, Platform Office and Customer Service Center, as well as the sewage treatment plant of Guizhou Medical University and Liuguangmen Sewage Treatment Plant, both part of the Nanming River Basin Water Environment Comprehensive Improvement Project.
In the week that followed, media delegation of the “Great Protection of the Yangtze River by New SOEs” campaign traveled from Guiyang, Guizhou Province, to Chengdu, Sichuan Province, then to Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, and finally back to CECEP headquarters in Beijing. The trip provided the reporters a comprehensive, across-the-board understanding of the progress of the great protection of the Yangtze River, with which they would present in-depth coverage of CECEP’s commitment and contributions to the national strategy.
