On November 7, the central and eastern African branch of China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC), a second-tier subsidiary of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), signed a contract with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on building the 56-kilometer Lovua-Tshikapa highway.

With a contract value of US$54 million, the project is financed by the African Development Bank, and its construction is scheduled to be completed in 24 months. The project involves a 56-kilometer asphalt concrete-paved highway, a 160-meter steel bridge over the Kasai River, a 9.2-kilometer urban road in Tshikapa, and solar power street light supply and installation.

The signing ceremony of the project aroused wide attention in D. R. Congo, and made CGC be known to more local people. Through winning the bid for the project, CGC expanded its business in the market of D. R. Congo while consolidating its competitiveness in the field of water supply, injecting new momentum to the sustainable development of the company’s central and eastern African branch.
