On May 4, China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC), a second-tier subsidiary of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), successfully won the bid to build experts’ dormitories for the China-aided Kiir Mayardit Women’s Hospital in South Sudan. The project will break ground on August 15, 2017.

Kiir Mayardit Women’s Hospital is the best equipped, most advanced hospital as well as a landmark building in central South Sudan. Constructed with the support of the Chinese government, it was officially opened in 2014. Due to deficient power supply and a shortage of equipment operators, maintenance and repair workers and medical personnel, the hospital has been operating at a sluggish pace, which greatly impacted the effect of aid efforts.

The experts’ dormitories project is intended to improve the living conditions for Chinese medical team working at the hospital as well as local medical staff while meeting medical demands of women and children in Lakes State to improve the physical well-being of local people.
