On November 19, the “China-France Year of the Environment” was officially launched at Beijing Capital Museum. Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron exchanged congratulatory messages on the event. Chinese Minister of Environmental Protection Li Ganjie joined François De Rugy, Minister of State and Minister of the Ecological and Solidarity Transition of France, to unveil the logo of “China-France Year of the Environment.” CECEP Chairman Liu Dashan attended the event as a distinguished guest and delivered a speech.
In his speech, Liu noted that China-France Year of the Environment is an initiative based on the consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Emmanuel Macron. The campaign is not only of great significance for China and France to strengthen cooperation in the field of environmental protection and jointly address challenges of environmental governance, climate change and biological diversity, it will also play a positive role in promoting more extensive cooperation in the international community under the framework of the Paris Agreement, he added.
Liu also expressed that as the largest and most influential central SOE with most business segments in China’s energy conservation and environmental protection industry, CECEP is steadfastly committed to fulfilling its sacred mission and social responsibility of ecological protection and actively implementing national policies of pollution prevention and control, Yangtze River environmental protection, and countryside revitalization. CECEP hopes, according to Liu, to establish long-term mutually-beneficial and win-win cooperative relations with French partners to jointly develop both Chinese and French markets as well as third-party markets.
