The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held at National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from November 5 to 10. The first national expo themed on imports, it showcased China’s resolve to open itself wider to the world. CECEP had a presence at the event with a team of over 100 representatives from 12 branch companies headed by CECEP Chairman Liu Dashan and Deputy CEO An Yi.
The first CIIE attracted more than 3,600 companies from 172 countries and regions as well as representatives of international organizations. Among them were 200-plus Global 500 companies and leading players in their respective sectors. The products and technologies they brought to the expo represented the highest level in the world. Liu attended the opening ceremony, at which Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech. He then attended an international cooperation forum sponsored by State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, which was themed on deepening cooperation, expanding opening-up and promoting business growth through free trade, and visited the exhibitions with his team to study equipment and technologies of energy conservation and environmental protection. Liu said that CECEP will resolutely implement major decisions and plans of the Party and the state to expand international cooperation and opening-up, actively participate in international cooperation on green development, promote the “going global” of China’s green production capacity, and contribute to the high-quality development of Chinese economy and the country’s new round of opening-up.
The first CIIE set up the stage for closer cooperation between CECEP and the world’s leading companies. On November 8 CECEP Wind-Power Corporation Co., Ltd. signed with ABB a letter of intent for cooperation on offshore wind power projects.
During the CIIE, An Yi attended a business dinner hosted by Dominica, a trade and investment forum, an import promotion event of CNMC, a Sino-Czech business forum and a news conference on German water treatment technologies, among other activities.
