On March 18, 2017, CECEP Chairman Liu Dashan attended China Development Forum 2017 in Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing, and gave a speech at its economic summit. The forum is an annual event organized by the Development Research Center of China’s State Council.
In his speech Mr. Liu gave his take on smog treatment, and shared with the audience CECEP’s efforts in this regard. He made four proposals on addressing smog: focusing on key areas and taking targeted measures across a certain region in a coordinated manner, strengthening sci & tech research and development and imposing coordinated control on multiple sources of pollution, intensifying coordination and joint action between different agencies and between the government and business circle, ameliorating relevant policies, and promoting green finance.
The China Development Forum 2017 was the first big international event convened after the 2017 “Two Sessions.” With the purpose of having a dialogue with the world and seeking common development, it is a platform for senior officials of China, business leaders from around the world, representatives of international organizations and scholars worldwide to meet and talk. Since its launch in 2000, the forum has made positive contributions to facilitating exchanges on development policies and international cooperation. Under the theme of “China and the World: Economic Transformation through Structural Reforms,” the 2017 session held discussions on such topics as supply-side reform, Made in China 2025, environmental treatment, opening up at a higher level, cross-border capital flow, and Internet security and management.
