On the afternoon of July 31, 2026, local time, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Anosizato Flyover Project in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, was held. The project is being undertaken by the Madagascar branch of CGC. Transitional President of the Republic of Madagascar Colonel Michael Randrianirina and Prime Minister Mamitiana Rajaonarison attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Several senior government officials and ministers were also present, while Counsellor Huo Wei of the Chinese Embassy in Madagascar attended the ceremony at the special invitation of the Office of the President.
Once completed, the Anosizato Flyover will be the first interchange in Madagascar’s history. It will help improve Antananarivo’s urban road network, enhance connectivity between the capital and surrounding towns, and create more jobs while improving local livelihoods. The project features a cloverleaf design with four ramps, enabling traffic flows in all directions to be streamlined to the greatest extent possible within a limited space and effectively eliminating conflict points at the at-grade intersection. It will also expand sections of National Roads No. 1 and 58A to four lanes in both directions, significantly improving regional traffic capacity.
CGC has been deeply engaged in the Madagascar market for many years and has successively won contracts for multiple road, water supply and building construction projects. The successful implementation of this project will further strengthen the brand influence of Chinese enterprises in Madagascar’s engineering contracting sector and add another practical achievement to the joint construction of the Belt and Road between China and Madagascar.
