Recently, the Development and Application of a Comprehensive Campus Energy-Saving Technology System for Carbon Reduction project, jointly implemented by CECEP Valeen Technology and Qingdao Hengxing University of Science and Technology, won the first prize in the 2026 Shandong Energy Conservation Association Science and Technology Awards.
The project addresses major industry challenges, including fragmented energy consumption management at universities, difficulties in precisely controlling carbon emissions, and insufficient use of renewable energy. It innovatively developed an integrated “green energy management–energy conservation and emissions reduction management–carbon neutrality management” technology architecture and established an integrated digital management and control platform covering water, electricity, gas, heat and carbon. The project is driving campus energy management from an experience-based, extensive approach toward precise, digital and intelligent control. Since its commissioning, the project has delivered significant results in energy conservation and carbon reduction: the campus’s overall energy-saving rate has remained steadily between 15% and 30%, annual carbon dioxide emissions have fallen by more than 20%, and the project is expected to save 3 million yuan to 5 million yuan in energy costs over its full life cycle, delivering improvements in both environmental and economic benefits. Following an expert review and assessment, the project’s overall technological performance was recognized as reaching an advanced level in China.
