From December 8 to 12, the Seventh United Nations Environment Assembly was held in Nairobi, Kenya. During the assembly, a themed side event titled “Improving Global Environmental Governance to Build a Clean and Beautiful World” was jointly hosted by the Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations Environment Programme, and Xinhua News Agency’s African Regional Bureau. At the invitation of the Research Center, CECEP presented its core business layout and development achievements through on-site exhibitions and briefings. It shared representative cases in water treatment, solid waste disposal, new energy, ecological restoration, clean energy supply and dual-carbon services, and told vivid stories of serving the Belt and Road Initiative, highlighting the positive image of CECEP as a central SOE dedicated to energy conservation and environmental protection and expressing its readiness to contribute more CECEP solutions to building a clean and beautiful world.

Senior officials attending and addressing the side event included Guo Fang, Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment of China; Guo Haiyan, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya; and Inger Andersen, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme. Representatives from relevant UN agencies and government departments of countries including Hungary, France, Kenya and Yemen were also present. CGC, a subsidiary of the Group, specifically dispatched representatives from its East Africa branch to assist with the exhibition setup and provide on-site briefings.
