On August 20, Zhang Shirong, General Manager of CECEP, held a working meeting with Xue Qiang, Director of the Bureau of Science and Technology for Sustainable Development of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), at the CECEP headquarters. The two sides held in-depth discussions and reached consensus on advancing joint efforts to tackle key technological challenges, co-developing platforms for scientific and technological innovation, accelerating the commercialization of research results, and leveraging technology to drive high-quality industrial development.
Zhang Shirong warmly welcomed Xue Qiang and his delegation. He noted that, as a centrally administered state-owned enterprise primarily engaged in energy conservation and environmental protection, CECEP has consistently played an active role in serving major national strategies and has accumulated extensive practical experience and industrial resources in the energy conservation and environmental protection sectors. He expressed the hope that the meeting would serve as an opportunity to establish a comprehensive partnership with the CAS Bureau of Science and Technology for Sustainable Development, focusing on key areas such as joint efforts to tackle technological challenges and joint talent development, while jointly building high-level platforms for scientific and technological innovation to effectively bridge the “first mile” and “last mile” of innovation.
Xue Qiang expressed his appreciation for the warm reception from CECEP. He emphasized that the CAS Bureau of Science and Technology for Sustainable Development has accumulated extensive technological expertise and research strengths in areas including ecological and environmental protection, earth and natural resources, biotechnology, and agricultural science and technology, which are highly aligned with CECEP's core businesses. He looked forward to the two sides accelerating the establishment of a systematic cooperation framework and exploring a new R&D model driven by application scenarios and based on coordinated efforts among major research institutes, universities and enterprises. The two sides will work to advance joint technology research, joint validation in application scenarios, sharing of research results, and joint development of standards, thereby setting a new benchmark for industry-research institute collaboration.
