On May 17, the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Beautiful China Forum 100 was held in Dunhuang, Gansu Province. Huang Runqiu, Minister of Ecology and Environment and chairman of the forum, and Ren Zhenhe, Deputy Secretary of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Gansu Province, attended the meeting and delivered remarks. Wang Jinnan, Executive Vice Chairman of the forum, President of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, presided over the opening ceremony of the annual meeting. Liao Jiasheng, Chairman of CECEP, was invited to attend the meeting and delivered a speech during the exchange session.
In his remarks, Liao noted that General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly issued important instructions on the prevention and control of solid waste pollution, emphasizing the need to strengthen comprehensive solid waste management and accelerate the development of zero-waste cities. The CPC Central Committee has incorporated comprehensive solid waste management into key tasks for ecological civilization development, driving historic achievements in this field in China. As a centrally administered state-owned enterprise focused on energy conservation and environmental protection, CECEP has always borne in mind its national responsibilities, firmly fulfilled its political responsibilities and continuously enhanced its solid waste treatment capacity. He stated that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the Group will strengthen the strategic layout of its solid waste treatment business and strive to achieve breakthroughs in the treatment of bulk solid waste, contributing to the building of a Beautiful China and high-quality development. Drawing on CECEP’s exploration and practical experience, Liao also put forward suggestions on improving policy and standards systems for bulk solid waste management, strengthening technological innovation and enhancing industrial coordination.
Hosted by the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, this year’s annual meeting was themed “Strengthening Ecological Security Barriers and Building a Beautiful China”. Academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, experts and scholars, as well as representatives from local governments, enterprises and social organizations delivered keynote speeches or exchange remarks centered on the forum theme. Forum members, representatives from ecological and environmental authorities nationwide, and industry experts attended the annual meeting.
During his stay in Gansu, Liao also visited the Yumen Wind Farm of CECWPC and the Yumen Solar Power Station of CECEP Solar for field research. He listened to work reports from the Northwest Regional Company of CECWPC and the Northwest Company of CECEP Solar, supervised on-site the implementation of study and education activities on establishing and practicing a correct view of political performance, and provided guidance on the Year of Tackling Challenges campaign, implementation of strategic planning, production and operations, and primary-level Party building.
Zhao Youmin, Secretary to the Board of Directors and Director of the Cooperation Department of the Group, along with representatives from the Strategic Development Department, CECEP Solar, the Yellow River Basin Market Development Center, and other units, participated in the above activities.
