Recently, the GE/2021/22 Landslip Prevention and Mitigation Programme, the Kwun Tong Sewage Pumping Station Enhancement Project, and the Shek Wu Hui Water Reclamation Plant Project, all undertaken by CGC, received multiple prestigious awards from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) in recognition of their outstanding performance in safety design, engineering quality, integration with community needs and sustainable development.
Among them, the GE/2021/22 Landslip Prevention and Mitigation Programme won Gold Award for the HKIE Design for Safety Excellence Award, which recognizes CGC’s unwavering commitment to public safety and the creation of a safe working environment. The project involved highly complex geological conditions and extremely challenging construction work, with numerous difficulties arising during the early stages. Faced with these challenges, CGC rose to the occasion, overcame key technical obstacles, and completed the remediation work to a high standard. The project completely eliminated potential safety hazards, eased concerns among nearby residents, and provided valuable experience for tackling difficult landslip disaster management projects in Hong Kong.

The Kwun Tong Sewage Pumping Station Enhancement Project and the Shek Wu Hui Water Reclamation Plant Project each received the Merit Award for Civil Engineering Excellence from the HKIE. The former recognized CGC’s outstanding contribution to promoting harmony between infrastructure development and the local community, while the latter highly commended the company’s technological breakthroughs in sustainable water resource management and its remarkable achievements in environmental infrastructure construction.

The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers is Hong Kong’s statutory professional engineering body and a core authority governing industry accreditation, professional standards and international engineering talent mobility. Its awards are widely regarded as highly prestigious within Hong Kong’s engineering sector. These honors not only reflect the HKIE’s strong recognition of the projects’ design concepts, construction management, innovative technology applications and overall social benefits, but also demonstrate CGC’s continued commitment to the Hong Kong infrastructure market, safe construction practices and green sustainable development. Moving forward, CGC will continue to fulfill the responsibilities of a central state-owned enterprise and contribute to the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
