Recently, the Energy Bureau of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region released the first batch list of independent new-type energy storage construction projects for 2026. The CECEP Hohhot Xincheng District 250 MW/1,000 MWh grid-side independent energy storage demonstration project was successfully approved, adding new momentum to CECWPC’s active expansion into the new-type energy storage industry. To date, CECWPC has secured approval for nine energy storage projects across its system, with a total capacity of 1.65 million kW/5.34 million kWh.
The project is located in Xincheng District of Hohhot and enjoys favorable location conditions that fully meet the requirements for building a grid-side independent energy storage power station. It is planned to construct a lithium iron phosphate electrochemical energy storage station with a storage duration of four hours. Once completed and put into operation, the project will effectively address the intermittency and volatility of new energy power generation, significantly enhance the stability and security of regional grid operations, and efficiently facilitate the consumption of renewable energy. It will also serve as an important demonstration for Hohhot in accelerating the transformation of its energy structure and promoting green and low-carbon development.
