From January 31 to February 1, the inaugural conference and first academic meeting of the Carbon Footprint Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Liao Jiasheng, Chairman of CECEP, was invited to attend the opening ceremony and deliver a keynote address. Li Gao, Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment, Chen Zhongwei, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, and He Kebin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the opening ceremony. Du Le, Deputy General Manager of CECEP, also participated in the event.

In his remarks, Liao noted that as a central state-owned enterprise with energy conservation and environmental protection as its core business, CECEP has consistently put Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization into practice, firmly upheld the principle that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, and proactively served national carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. The Group has actively led related practices and continuously strengthened the supply of carbon-related standards, providing solid support for building a Beautiful China and advancing green and low-carbon development. He emphasized that carbon footprint management is a critical measure for advancing carbon peaking and neutrality efforts and a fundamental basis for corporate green transformation and coordinated emissions reduction across industrial chains. As a founding member of the committee, CECEP will fully support its work and deepen cooperation in areas such as data platform development, application scenario expansion, and the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, to promote the effective implementation of carbon footprint management systems in practice.
During the conference, CECEP and the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement. The two sides will strengthen collaboration on carbon footprint standard formulation, joint development of carbon data platforms and coordinated research on carbon-related technologies, promoting integrated development across industry, academia, research and application in the carbon footprint field.

The conference was jointly hosted by the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences and CECEP, and organized by the Carbon Footprint Professional Committee, CECEP Data and other entities. It featured one main venue and six parallel thematic sessions. More than 300 representatives from government agencies, enterprises, universities and social organizations attended.
While in Nanjing, Liao and his delegation also visited CECEP Data’s Green and Low-Carbon Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Innovation Base.
