Recently, CGM under CGC successfully launched its first bauxite exploration project in Côte d’Ivoire, marking a major breakthrough in its expansion into the West African mining market.
Located at the core of the Cenozoic tropical lateritic bauxite metallogenic belt in West Africa, Côte d’Ivoire boasts abundant, high-quality bauxite resources. The newly launched project enjoys a prime location, with estimated resources reaching tens of millions of tons. The planned annual production capacity is three million tons, with ore grades featuring over 45 percent alumina and less than 2 percent silica, classifying it as a large, high-quality bauxite deposit.
Beyond early-stage geological exploration, CGM has secured priority rights across the full industrial chain through the signing of a dedicated cooperation framework agreement, including further exploration, feasibility studies, mine construction, production operations and bauxite trading. This cooperation lays a solid foundation for building an integrated exploration–development–trade model.
