On January 8, CGC formally signed a contract with the Road Development Agency (RDA) of Zambia for the 100-kilometer Isoka–Muyombe road upgrading project in Muchinga Province, marking a new breakthrough in the company’s sustained expansion in the infrastructure construction market of Southern Africa.
The project is a key transportation infrastructure initiative in Muchinga Province and will be undertaken by CGC Southern Africa branch. The main scope of work involves a systematic upgrade of the existing Isoka–Muyombe section of the D790/M14 road, including routine road maintenance, carriageway widening, and upgrading the original road standard to an asphalt pavement. Construction works cover site clearing, desilting and rehabilitation of drainage facilities, earthworks with filling and compaction, and paving of pavement structural layers. The project also includes the installation of road traffic signs and markings, as well as the commissioning of other ancillary road facilities and equipment. The construction period is 24 months. Upon completion, the project will significantly improve regional transport conditions, substantially enhance road capacity and traffic safety, and effectively open up channels for the movement of goods and people along the corridor. It is expected to play an important role in promoting economic development, improving livelihoods and advancing connectivity in Muchinga Province and surrounding areas.
