The Guangming International Equestrian Center, a major cultural and sports project in Shenzhen designed by Shenzhen Machinery Institute Architectural Design (hereinafter referred to as MIDSZ, a subsidiary of CQEC), recently achieved structural completion.

Located in Guangming District, the center spans a site area of approximately 50,000 square meters, with a total floor area of 69,000 square meters. Facilities include a main competition arena, indoor training hall, outdoor training fields, event support spaces and equine stables.

The venue’s roof features a large-span timber structure, comprising glue-laminated timber (glulam) beams with individual members reaching up to 96 meters in length, 66 meters in span, and 20 meters in cantilever—making it one of China’s largest single-structure timber engineering projects. Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology was employed to create a 3D digital model, ensuring precise installation of the timber beams and enabling the project’s timely completion.

Designed to meet the 5-star equestrian event standards set by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), the center will serve as Shenzhen’s first permanent venue for top-tier international competitions. It is envisioned as a multifunctional hub integrating equestrian events, athlete training, cultural exchanges, educational programs and equine welfare, positioning itself as a landmark for global equestrian sports and cultural collaboration.
