On December 18, CGC formally signed a contract with Madagascar’s water and electricity utility JIRAMA for the JIRAMA pipeline project. This marks another major achievement by CGC in the field of livelihood infrastructure in Madagascar and further consolidates the company’s competitive position in the regional engineering market.
The project is located in the core area of Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, with a planned construction period of 24 months. It mainly involves the construction of approximately 23.1 kilometers of water supply pipelines. Upon completion, the project will significantly enhance the reliability and coverage of the local water supply system, contributing to improved public welfare and sustainable urban development. The signing represents another important livelihood infrastructure project secured by CGC in Madagascar, following its successful implementation of a series of water supply projects funded by the UN Green Climate Fund and the French Development Agency (AFD). The project is financed by the European Investment Bank, reflecting the high level of trust placed by international financial institutions and the local owner in CGC’s professional capabilities and contract performance.
The successful launch of this project is another outcome of CGC’s development path of focusing on its core engineering business, being driven by technology, and deepening its regional presence. It lays a solid foundation for further expanding infrastructure operations in Africa and strengthening cooperation with international financial institutions. Looking ahead, CGC will continue to leverage its comprehensive strengths in engineering construction and project management, actively participate in livelihood infrastructure development in Belt and Road partner countries, integrate into local economic and social development, and demonstrate corporate responsibility through high-quality projects and excellent performance, contributing to deeper China–Madagascar friendly cooperation.
